Aircraft noise has adverse impacts on residents living near airports. Aircraft noise assessment is necessary for new developments of private airstrips or aerodromes. Recently Acoustic Engineering Solutions (AES) undertook aircraft noise modelling and assessments of several private airstrips. Integrated Noise Model (INM) was used.
The INM can generate:
- Australian Noise Exposure Forecast (ANEF) charts;
- Noise Above Contours of N60, N65 and N70; and
- Individual aircraft noise LAmax contours.
Private airstrips or aerodromes are more concern of individual aircraft noise levels because of a few aircraft movements.
For residential and commercial developments near existing airports or aerodromes, the aircraft noise impact assessments are undertaken in accordance with Australian Standard AS2021 and APP 5.1 for the Perth Airport.
